COVID-19 Guidance

Amey's Scottish contracts remain operational as we are responsible for ensuring millions of key workers can continue delivering vital public services across the country, by ensuring that; 

• children can attend clean and safe schools;  
• the necessary transport infrastructure is maintained to allow key workers to travel to work. 

We are following the appropriate Scottish and UK Government guidelines and regularly updating our risk assessments and processes in response, with specific control measures in place on all our schemes. 

All Amey staff who can work from home are doing so, and specially designed rosters are being used for frontline employees; to limit social contact and the number of people in our depots. Temperature sensors have been installed at our central office; with a fixed entry and exit for all staff with one way systems enforced across offices and depots. 

Frontline employees receive regular Toolbox Talks to ensure we are COVID secure in our operational sites and premises. We will keep our people protected, especially those delivering these essential frontline services, and will ensure their work environment is as safe as possible. 

COVID-Secure controls in force in Amey offices include; 

• Signage,  
• Desk Booking  
• Hand Sanitiser. 
• Following the Scottish Government's F.A.C.T.S guidelines:
• Face coverings in enclosed spaces  
• Avoid crowded places 
• Clean hands and surfaces regularly  
• Two metre distancing; and  
• Self-isolate and book a test if you have symptoms  

Face coverings are now mandatory in offices and workplaces in shared areas such as canteens, desks and corridors. This applies to all employees and visitors (other than those with appropriate exemptions).

Five Steps to Safer Working Together 

✅ We have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment on activities and premises and shared the controls with the people who work here.

✅ We have cleaning, hand washing, and hygiene procedures in line with current guidance. 

✅ We have taken all reasonable steps to ensure those who can work from home can do so.

✅ We have taken all reasonable steps to maintain a 2m distance in the workplace.

✅ Where people cannot be 2m apart, we have done everything practical to manage transmission risk. 

Maintaining Essential Services

We understand how difficult these times are for everyone, and we thank all road users for their patience and support while essential works are being undertaken. 

Amey is continuing to provide essential services across the South West road network for and on behalf of Transport Scotland in accordance with Government guidance  

These services are essential to maintain roads, bridges and other structures. Therefore, it’s vital that we keep up inspections and undertake any essential maintenance as soon as an issue is identified. 

We need to maintain a healthy environment for animal and plant life around the network and keep lighting and drainage systems operating effectively. There are also weather-related challenges to be considered, including winter weather, heavy rainfall, and high winds; and we must maintain a rapid response service to deal with incidents on the network and provide vital support to the emergency services.
